The Wrath and the Dawn-Renée Ahdieh

The Wrath and the Dawn" is the debut novel from Renée Ahdieh and it is supposed to be a retailing of "Arabian Night". Unfortunately, I have not read the latter so I can't say if I saw the similarities or not. However, it does not make it less of an incredible book. It is set in an Indian-like country called Khorosan, ruled by a monster, Khalid, a serial killer that murdered his wives at dawn with a silk rope. The action starts when Shahrzad decides to marry Khalid to avenge her best friend Shiva, one of his dead wives.
